End Covers/Caps

End covers and caps are precision-engineered components designed to close the axial openings of gearbox housings. They serve as protective barriers against environmental contaminants such as dust, moisture, and debris while containing lubricants within the housing. These components maintain internal pressure, support bearing alignment, and often incorporate sealing surfaces for gaskets or O-rings. In industrial applications, they are critical for ensuring gearbox reliability, reducing maintenance frequency, and extending service life by preventing premature wear of internal gears and bearings.

End covers function by creating a mechanical seal at gearbox housing openings. They are typically bolted or fastened to the housing flange, compressing a gasket or O-ring to form a leak-proof barrier. The cover distributes clamping force evenly to maintain seal integrity under thermal expansion, vibration, and operational loads. Some designs include labyrinth seals or lip seals for additional protection against contaminants.
