Display Driver

A display driver is an integrated circuit or electronic module that processes input signals from a controller or processor and generates the appropriate voltage, current, and timing signals required to operate digital display elements such as LEDs, LCDs, or seven-segment displays. In digital counters, it ensures accurate numerical representation by controlling individual segments or pixels.

The display driver receives binary-coded decimal (BCD) or serial data from the counter's logic circuit, decodes this information, and activates specific output lines corresponding to display segments. It uses multiplexing techniques to sequentially power display elements, reducing pin count and power consumption while maintaining visual persistence through rapid cycling.
